The Indian Society of Gastroenterology, as well as doctors, have recently emphasised the importance of disinfection protocols, stating that 5% of patients who undergo procedures such as colonoscopy and endoscopy are at risk of transmitting Hepatitis B or C, HIV, and H. pylori infection through medical instruments.
